Have you ever thought about starting a blog as a way to make extra money?
Don’t get me wrong. People talk a lot about making money blogging.
It’s not a quick fix. A blog is not going to make you a millionaire overnight.
But it can be the start of your very own business. With some time, effort and a lot of hard work, a blog can provide a very secure and comfortable source of income.
Can you make money blogging?
I started Boost My Budget nearly a year ago. For several months, I didn’t make any money at all with my blog. But just look what’s happened over the last three months:

It might not be a huge amount of money yet, but you can see that it’s starting to snowball.
Each month I can see my affiliate commissions increasing. I also get more and more requests for sponsored posts. I have so many ideas for ways to develop my blog in future, and my dream now is to become a full time blogger.
A year ago, I would have thought that was crazy. But now I believe it’s totally possible!
In fact, I’ve just spent the weekend at the UK Money Bloggers conference, where I met absolutely loads of people with blogs just like mine who make a full time living from blogging.
Blogging can be a lucrative side hustle, or a valid career choice! It’s all up to you.
Take a look at this list of people making for 4 to 6 figures each month from blogging, on topics as diverse as recipes to parenting to golf techniques. One of the best things about blogging is that you can choose whatever topic you’re interested in, and find a way to monetise it!
As a full time blogger, you can be your own boss. You can work from anywhere in the world, and choose the hours that suit you.
Get blogging training
One thing I’ve learned since I’ve started blogging is, if you’re serious about making money from your blog, you can’t just make it up as you go along.
(Like I did for several months!)
You need to follow some kind of training, and you need to know the best strategies to develop and monetise your blog.
