To me, these ways to hack making money online are all no-brainers. Everyone should be doing them!
Now, most of the things on this list are not quick ways to make piles of money. Most of them are slow burners. But the point is that they take very little work.
These are mostly ‘set it and forget it’ ways to make a little extra cash. They’re things you can set up today, in order to cash in further down the road.

Make money searching the web
Qmee is a clever little browser extension that pays you for searching the internet.
You simply install the browser extension and carry on with your normal internet activities. Occasionally when you are searching on Google or Amazon, you will get a special Qmee sidebar with sponsored ads. If you click on these ads, you can earn a few pennies.
The ads always tell you how much you can earn before you click.
Apart from the side bar, Qmee doesn’t affect your search results or browsing experience at all!
The money takes a while to add up because it’s literally just pennies each time. But it only takes a second to click, so to my mind it’s a great way to hack free money without taking any real time out of your day.
To earn extra money with Qmee, you can also take surveys on their website.
One of the best things about Qmee is that there is no minimum payment threshold! You can cash out to PayPal from just 1p. So it’s a great option when you need to get your hands on some money fast.

Get cashback on your shopping
Cashback sites are an absolute no-brainer when it comes to hacks to make money online. Every single person should be signed up with at least one cashback site, and check it every time you shop online!
With cashback sites, you simply check the site before you buy anything online. If the cashback site partners with the site you want to shop at, click through from their special link. Then you shop as normal.
After your transaction goes through, the cashback site will literally give you money as a thank you for shopping with them.
You can get especially great deals on things like utilities contracts, insurance and holidays. But you can also get cashback on every day shopping such as clothes and home items.
A super sneaky money making hack is to combine cashback with matched betting to make even bigger profits when you sign up with betting sites!
The two main cashback sites in the UK are:
- Quidco (you currently get a £10 bonus when you make your first purchase!)
- Topcashback
I recommend signing up with both, because sometimes one has better rewards than the other.
Get paid to watch videos
This is a super easy and passive way to make money online.
Swagbucks is the king of money making sites, with loads of different ways to earn. They have surveys, cashback, paid search, paid offers and all kinds of other things.
But one of my favourite ways to make money on Swagbucks is getting paid to watch videos.
Now, none of the videos are particularly amazing, and you don’t really want to sit there all day watching them. But that doesn’t matter.
What I do is I have the Swagbucks app on my phone, and I run the videos in the background when I’m working on the computer, or any time I don’t actively need my phone.
The videos just play by themselves and Swagbucks doesn’t know or care if I’m paying attention.
Unfortunately there is a cap on how many Swagbucks you can earn each day doing this. So again, this is kind of a slow burner. But it’s an easy thing you can do each day with very little effort, and it all adds up. 🙂
Get paid to walk
Here is another super passive money making life hack, where you can earn money without even thinking about it!
There are a few different apps that pay you for walking. The two I like are Sweatcoin and BetterPoints.
Both of them give you points the more you walk (BetterPoints works with running and cycling too). If you sign up with BetterPoints you can use my referral code CLHX-VHZM to open up additional rewards 🙂
With BetterPoints, you can exchange your points for vouchers for various high street shops. With Sweatcoin, you put your points towards various freebies and special offers. There is also the option to go for PayPal cash, but be warned it takes a LONG time to get there!
With BetterPoints, you need to activate the app when you set out on your walk. With Sweatcoin, you can just let it run in the background.
If you walk even just 30 minutes or so each day (perhaps on a commute or school run) then your points can add up fast! And if you’re trying to walk more for fitness or weight reasons, these apps can be a great extra motivation. 🙂
As with the other ideas on this list, you won’t get rich overnight with these apps. But download them today, go about your life, and the future you will thank you!
Get paid for doing nothing!
Here’s one quick win. Download the mobileXpression app on your phone or tablet, and after two weeks they’ll send you a £20 Amazon gift card.
The app runs in the background and monitors how you use your data. It then sends the data anonymously to market research companies.
It’s completely anonymous and safe to use, although some people say it slows their phone down slightly.
Still, once it’s installed, it’s completely hands off and you’ll earn your voucher just for leaving the app installed. Definitely one of the easiest way to make money on your phone or tablet!
After two weeks, you can claim your gift card and either delete the app, or leave it installed for the chance to earn additional rewards.

A similar idea is the Nielsen computer panel. You download some software to your computer which runs in the background to collect data on your internet usage, in return for the chance to win cash prizes. Unfortunately they are not offering a guaranteed reward at the moment, but you may get lucky.
Money making tips you can start today
As you can see, you really don’t need a ton of spare time to start making extra cash. Just invest a few minutes today in setting up the apps in this post to start boosting your income without even realising it!
Of course, if you really want to increase your income, you’ll need to take a more proactive approach. Generally speaking, the more time you put in, the more money you can make!
