VoxPopMe is a little bit different:
You make money by recording short videos on your phone.
I’ve been testing out the VoxPopMe app this month. Read my review to see if the VoxPopMe app could be a good way for you to earn some extra cash!
What is VoxPopMe?
With the VoxPopMe app, you can earn money by recording short videos giving your opinion on different brands.
Each video only has to be around 15 seconds long. The longest one I’ve seen asked me to speak for 60 seconds.
You take the video directly with your phone camera – no mic or anything needed.
It’s generally way easier to speak for 15 seconds seconds than type something out. It’s so fast and easy to do, and you feel like you are moving through tasks more quickly than with traditional survey sites.
Sometimes you will literally just be asked ‘tell us what you think about Brand X’. Sometimes you will watch a short video (for example, a new advert) and give your thoughts on that.
After recording your video, you can watch it back and re-record if you’re not happy. Great if you’re worried about saying something stupid!
There are also occasional short multiple-choice surveys to answer. These are unpaid, but open up more video tasks for you.
The app is available for iPhone and Android.
What do they do with the data?
The videos are generally for market research purposes. The brands pay for these videos because they want to know what normal people like us think about them.
However, it’s important to know that when you submit a video on VoxPopMe, you are giving these companies the right to do whatever they want with it. They can use your video on their own website or share it on social media. They will also have your personal details, such as real name, which they might choose to share too.
The majority of videos will probably only be watched by researchers inside the company. But be aware that they could end up being shared!
If you’re not comfortable with this, you’ll want to give VoxPopMe a miss.
How do you get paid by VoxPopMe?
Each video survey can have a different fee. This is clearly marked before you start taking a survey.
I’ve heard some tasks pay up to £3, but I haven’t seen any yet. The average is about 25p.
This might not sound like much, but it’s literally 15 seconds work. The small payments add up!
There are several new surveys added each day, but they often go quickly. Remember, the company only needs a limited number of responses each time, so get in there fast if you see one you’re interested in!
You can allow notifications on your phone so you hear about new tasks when they go live.
Payment is by PayPal only. The minimum payment threshold is £10.
Also, like all great apps, VoxPopMe offers a nice referral system. Every time a friend signs up with your link and records their first video, you and the friend both get a £1 bonus. Use my link here and we’ll both get £1!
The app is currently available in the UK, US and Australia.
My experience with VoxPopMe
VoxPopMe is a great idea. It’s quick and easy to record a video, and it’s definitely more fun than scrolling through endless multiple choice surveys!
But I actually haven’t reached cashout yet, and to be honest, I’m not sure I will.
I started to become uncomfortable with the idea that the clients can use my videos on their websites or social media. I don’t want my name and face used for something I have no control over.
Maybe this won’t bother you, but it didn’t sit right with me. I’m a very private person!
