What is Shopmium?
Shopmium is an app which allows you to claim free or discounted products such as snacks, drinks and household items. You have to purchase the products for the full price first, and then claim cashback through the app. The cashback is paid within two working days into your bank or Paypal account.
Some offers refund you the full price of the item, making it completely free! Other offers just give you a percentage of the money back.
Currently Shopmium are offering a some kind of awesome free goodies when you sign up with a referral code (mine is KFKAMYGX). I’m not going to lie, this was the main reason I signed up and I’m very happy I did!free Green & Black’s chocolate bar

What kind of products are available from Shopmium?
Currently Shopmium has around 15 products available, including chocolate, ice cream, crisps, popcorn, smoothies and even wine. New products seem to appear every few days. The products are mostly treats or luxury items. This means it’s not really a good way to save money on your standard weekly food shop. However, if you are on a tight budget like me and don’t usually allow yourself to buy fancy chocolates and so on, this is a great way to treat yourself at little or no cost!

How does the payout work?
You can chose to get the cashback either into your bank account or into Paypal. Unlike other similar apps I have heard of, there is no minimum amount you need before you can cash out, and there is no commission or transfer fee to pay. You simply scan your item and receipt, request cash back, and you will have the money in your bank account a couple of days later – even if you are only owed a few pennies.
Tips
To claim your cashback you will need to scan in the bar code from the product packaging. You also need to take a photo of the full receipt. Careful not to throw them away before you claim!
You can’t combine Shopmium offers with any other offer, such as coupons clipped from another source. You can, however, claim multiple Shopmium offers from the same shop.
One nice feature of the app is that each product page has a map that shows you your nearest shops selling each item. Do make sure you check before you buy, as certain offers only apply if you buy the product from a specified shop.
How to get your free Green & Black’s chocolate
(or whatever special new member offer is on at the time – currently a box of Cornettos!)
- Download the app from the App Store or Google Play. The free chocolate offer is only available via the app, not via the website.
- The free chocolate offer is ONLY available when you sign up with a referral code. Mine is KFKAMYGX. Make sure you enter this code when prompted at sign up in order to access this offer!
- Find Green & Blacks on your list of offers. Click through onto the offer page and have a look at the map to see which approved retailers are selling it near you (for this offer, it should be all major supermarkets).
- Buy your chocolate. Keep the packaging and receipt!
- To make your claim, simply click ‘Request My Cashback’ in the bottom right-hand side of the product page. You will be prompted to scan the product barcode and to take a picture of the receipt, and to enter your bank account details if you haven’t already done so.
- Wait two days, and the money should be deposited into your account!
After you sign up, you will be given your own referral code which you can share with friends to treat them to their own chocolate bars. When a friend signs up using your referral code, you will get £3 credit which you can use towards any other offers on the app.
My experience with Shopmium
I downloaded this app a week ago and immediately found four free products that I wanted to claim, with a total value of £5.63. I bought the items individually over the next couple of days (not all the items were available from the same shops), made my claims via the app, and received the cashback in my bank account within two working days!
I found this app very user friendly. It is easy to understand the terms of each offer, and how to claim. Mostly I was very impressed with the speedy payout! I will definitely be keeping this app and will check it for new offers before each shopping trip.

This app is very easy to use and pays out promptly. The only thing I don’t like it that you can’t see the value of the offer until you click through onto the product page. It would be nice to have a way to see all the free products on one page.
