Top 5 Sites to Take Surveys for Money

Taking surveys for money is one of the easiest ways to start making money online.

No, surveys are not going to make you rich. If you want to make quit-your-job money, there are better ways to do that.

But if you just need an extra £50-£200 each month, survey sites can help that happen!

Just look out – not all survey sites are created equal.

I’ve tried so many different online survey sites, and some of them are a complete waste of time.

Here are my top 5 survey sites that actually pay well in 2019:

Prolific

If you only join one survey site, make it this one!

Prolific (formerly Prolific Academic) is my all time favourite survey site. This is mostly because you NEVER get screened out – which is definitely the most frustrating thing about trying to take surveys for money on other sites!

On Prolific, if you are offered a survey on your dashboard, you will get paid for that survey 🙂

What’s more, they are incredibly transparent: before you take a survey, you will see how much the survey pays, how long it is estimated to take, and the estimated equivalent fee per hour.

Most Prolific surveys always seem to average at least £5 per hour, but it’s not unusual to see some at £6, £7 or more per hour. Definitely one of the highest paying survey sites out there!

You can cash out from just £5 to PayPal or Circle, although a small fee will be applied. For zero fees, wait until you have a balance of £20 and then cash out via Circle.

Tip: Surveys can come and go quickly on this site so don’t wait for emails. I recommend leaving Prolific open in a separate tab whenever you’re at the computer so you get notifications straight away.

Pinecone Research

Pinecone Research is another survey site that pays really well! Each survey pays £3. Again, I love the transparency! No more struggling through a 30 minute survey to find out your points are only worth 20p.

What’s more, you can cash out from just £3 (so after just one survey), so this is great when you need to get money quickly.

Pinecone Research is a little harder to get into than most survey sites. You usually can’t sign up directly on their site. Instead, you have to find a Pinecone Research sign up link or invitation. Luckily, I have a Pinecone Research sign up for UK readers here!

Pinecone Research are recruiting new UK members at the time of writing (January 2019). However, they are only looking for people who fit specific profiles, and this can change at any time. You can apply at this link and if you fit the profile they’re looking for, they’ll send you an email when they have a suitable survey.

Sometimes you can also get free products to test through this site.

YouGov

YouGov is another survey site that I really like.

It is a slow burner compared to some of the others on this list. The payment threshold is pretty high at £50, and it can take a long time to get there. However, I kind of like it because when you receive that payment of £50 it really feels like a significant amount of money and you appreciate it more than £3 here and there!

YouGov has short and easy surveys every single day. These usually take less than 5 minutes and they are worth 50 points each (50p). So if you make a habit of checking in once a day, you will start to build up points quickly.

YouGov has a lot of surveys about politics and society. The results are often quoted by major newspapers. So if you follow current affairs, you will find these surveys interesting!

GlobalTestMarket

GlobalTestMarket is good survey site to join because they always seem to have a lot of surveys available. They are not the highest paying, but you can often get several surveys a day so it all adds up.

Also, even if you get screened out you can get entries into a sweepstake, so you might get lucky!

The payment threshold is £30 and you can get paid to PayPal or in various gift cards.

You get points for surveys and the points have different values depending on how you want to claim your earnings. So for example, you can get a £5 Amazon voucher for fewer points than £5 PayPal cash.

PopulusLive

PopulusLive pays very well for a survey site. Unlike other sites, they pay for your time. They pay £1 per 5 minutes of every completed survey – in theory, that’s £12 per hour!

The downsides are that you can often get screened out of surveys part way through, and there aren’t always lots of surveys available.

Also, it has a high payment threshold at £50. Once you hit £50 in your account, they’ll send you a cheque in the next payment run.

Other ways to make money online

These are my top 5 survey sites, but if you’ve got the survey bug, you can find a huge list of survey sites open to UK members here!
