Finally, blog about what you love, you will spend a lot of time doing it.

Absolutely! Blogging has so many benefits, not only as a way to make money but also for personal development, learning skills that you can apply to many different jobs, open the door to different career options/freelance work, etc. Some people (such as myself) just use their blogs to make money from affiliate marketing and ads, but others use it as a springboard to careers such as coaching, public speaking, social media/SEO expert… the opportunities are endless! Best of luck to you if this is the route you choose to go down.

Refreshing to read, We all know there are so many ways to make money online but where do you start, blogging has always appeared along my journey of researching but truthfuly never appealed to me. Often thinking it was just long hours of writing, researching topics etc etc for what?

I have since developed my thought pattern, writing is one of those gems that improves not only your writting skills but also the way you speak, your grammer, vocabulary and further more opens doors to other opportunties like public speaking. The best part for me is putting out so much value out in the world is a powerful way to become the best version of yourself.

On a side note…I totatly agree blogging is more dominant in the U.S and often think why us brits dont utlise this very skill.

Hi Robert! I just replied to your email before I saw this comment, but will reply here too in case it helps other people. Your parodies sound cool. It is certainly possible to make money in any niche – HOWEVER if your main goal is to make money from a blog, I think it will be harder and slower to build an audience (and therefore make money) with this type of content. I had a turning point with my blog when I started to write how-to posts (like this one!) and other articles that help people and answer popular queries that people are asking online.

Basically, it is much easier to get traffic to your blog if you are giving people information that they are actively searching for – and while song parodies definitely have a place online, it will probably be harder to get them in front of the people who are interested and also harder to monetise as it’s not such a commercial niche.

That said, I wonder if there is a place for your work on another medium such as YouTube or other social media channels where people go more for entertainment and browsing and discovering new things? My answer above is based on my knowledge of blogging and my experience getting traffic primarily via SEO and Pinterest, but that is not the only way to make money with your content online. I don’t know much about other platforms so can’t give much more advice there, but perhaps that is something for you to look into.

Very useful site. I have a query about making money from a blog. I write song parodies taking well known songs and changing the lyrics ( think, weird AL jankovic ) and humorous poetry.
Would this be a good idea for making money from a blog?
